CPS Survey
Has your family been traumatized by CPS? Have your children suffered while in foster care? Do you know of families with children who have?
Those of you who have worked with us know that we endeavor to protect your rights and reform Children’s Protective Services (CPS). Many of you have been hurt by a system that expands state authority over families, profits from taking your children, and assumes you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.
Those of you who have had experience with foster care or residential care now have a means to express your grievances with the state organization overseeing CPS, the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (PRS). Currently, as a part of an audit of PRS, the office of Texas Comptroller has posted a survey regarding foster and residential care on its website,
www.window.state.tx.us .
In addition to a short number of yes/no questions and those identifying the type of relationship you have with the system you have an opportunity to share the best or worse experience you had with the system and any other specific information you would like to share related to it.
Some of the grievances we have experienced with the foster system include:
· violations of constitutional rights
· lack of accountability
· subjective decisions based on vague statutes
· arrogance
· infringement on parental integrity
· zero tolerance of alleged abuse within families but willful blindness toward abuse within the foster system
· financial incentives for number of children placed in foster care
If you have had experience with the foster or residential care systems I encourage you to go to www.window.state.tx.us to fill out their survey. If you have not had personal experience, but know of others who have, please pass this information on.
By the way, while visiting the Comptroller’s website you may discover you are one of many individuals owning over $1 billion in unclaimed property in the state of Texas.

Respectfully,
Peter Johnston
