KATIE WERNECKE TO RETURN TO PARENTS TODAY
Katie Wernecke will leave M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with her parents today according to M.D. Anderson.
Dr. and Mrs. Wernecke will meet with doctors at 2:00PM and expect to leave the hospital approximately 4:00PM with Katie. M.D. Anderson will have a podium outside their main entrance on Bertner street in an area referred to as the Alkek.
The Werneckes plan to make a few comments for the media.
Katie, their 13 year old daughter, suffers from Hodgkin’s Disease. She was removed from her family by Children’s Protective Services on June 4 and had been in foster care almost five months.
Peter Johnston, President of Texas Center for Family Rights commented, "It’s about time. Katie has been ripped apart from her parents for almost five months during the most critical time of her life. Now we pray and believe for restoration physically and emotionally."
"I have been with Katie and her family. They obviously share a deep love for one another. While her father has been painted as a villain by CPS and the medical community, the fact is he has fought and sacrificed for his daughter and for what was right. Katie has consistently been in the center of his thinking and prayers. CPS and evidently the medical community do not like for parents to assert their God-given and constitutional rights regarding the care and custody of their children."
"The battle will be uphill to restore her health but her parents will do everything in their power to help Katie to win this victory. I am certain that they covet your prayers.’"
"Additionally, TCFR has helped to set up a legal and medical defense fund along with Compassion Children Foundation to benefit the Wernecke family. The Werneckes have spent close to $100,000 already in legal fees alone…a figure that may climb significantly higher. Donations can be made online at www.compassionchildren.org"
Texas Center for Family Rights thanks Judge Jack Hunter for making a right, though politically incorrect, decision to return Katie to her parents.
Peter Johnston can be reached for comment at 281-633-1152 today.
Texas Center for Family Rights has advocated through the media on behalf of the Katie Wernecke family but has not been involved in the litigation and receives no compensation through the fund set up for the Wernecke family.
