PUBLIC HEARING
The second hearing of the Interim Select Committee on Child Welfare and Foster Care, chaired by Rep. Suzanna Hupp, took place on Wednesday, March 24, 2004. The morning and afternoon sessions, which TCFR president Peter Johnston spoke at (03.23.), can be viewed through the Texas Capitol web-site.
The third hearing took place on June 2, 2004; Gary Gates and Peter Johnston also spoke then. Their presentation can be viewed

Gary W. Gates, Jr., Founder and Board member of TCFR. Gary and his wife Melissa are raising a family of thirteen children, eleven of them adopted. He is a successful businessman and has participated in over twenty ironman triathalons. In February of 2000 CPS removed all of his children but dropped its suit after seven months of litigation ("A Father's Retribution")

Peter Johnston, J.D., is President of Texas Center for Family Rights. His undergraduate degree is from Cornell University (B.A. History, 1975). Before completing his law degree he was involved in small business, ministry, and education.
